The Welbys of Lincolnshire, the Grices of Harborne

Further from wiki, from Lady Welby (the Griceian)'s husband. A reference to his

"contest[ing] a by-election for South Lincolnshire. ... He was elected unopposed South Lincolnshire, and held the seat until he resigned again, this time by becoming Steward of the Manor of Northstead."

Meanwhile, Lady Welby was corresponding with Peirce (on which Grice lectured extensively). The influence with Peirce was mutual. It is obvious they loved each other -- "our love is Platonic," she would say -- not that she did). They basically corresponded on icons and symbols. But she showed that respect for Peirce (and the respect was mutual) that Langer never did!

Perhaps her problem was when she started to apply her proto-Griceian significant principles on her youngest grandson. But we should delay our commentary on that for a longer day.
