Grice and Griss

I must have mentioned this elsewhere in the Club, but I was always amused that both Grice and Griss were obsessed with the 'implicatures' of "negation".

Then I read from wiki (and indeed R. E. Dale's thesis):

"Welby had a direct effect on the Significs group, most of whose members were Dutch, including Gerrit Mannoury and Frederik van Eeden. Hence she indirectly influenced L. E. J. Brouwer, the founder of intuitionistic logic."

Griss was an intuitionist logician.

He should not be confused with Grize, who is a Swiss student of truth-functional logic, alla Grice.
