Jones writes: "Dale and Compositional Semantics. Since Russell Dale may be watching (and I have been rude about his chapter 4) perhaps he might tell us where he now stands on the matters addressed in his Chapter 4 and whether he would now defend what he then said (if it were to be criticised)? Sorry, JL, to be lowering the tone of the Grice Club by inviting un-genteel controversy.)"
For the record, since Jones can usually be found at Carnap Corner -- another blog -- and there's a joint third, "City of Eternal Truth" -- it may do to check and enjoy the Dale references to Carnap, in the final sections of his historic chapter ii. I found his views on the development of this 'formal' line of semantics pretty interesting. And of course, he is very wise in quoting that bright rhetorical stretch by Grice where he mentions the City (of Eternal Truth) which should always be found inspirational!

Dale has now expanded on the seminal views by Carnap in his post on "English composition".
