This is a hateful distinction, but if you google 'material logic' (logica materialis) versus 'formal logic' (logica formalis) you find that the first was called 'logica maior' while the latter was termed 'logica minor'.
Enough to agree with Pinkerton (I think) who called A E Housman "a minor poet --" and hasting to add, "which I love -- I love a minor poet".
