Stevenson's Reduced Temperature

Stevenson (1944), who Grice quotes (1948) loves to say, p. 45:

"a reduced temperature may at times "mean" convalescence".

Grice took this so seriously that he invented a whole range of uses (or senses, as he then called them) to cover it: his mean-N. He later found out his mistake!

Ref. Grice, "Meaning Revisited".
