Carnap and Grice

---- By J. L. S.

This short post to remind readers of this august Club that I owe a reply to R. B. Jones in Hist-Analytic. (When the headache subsides). He is expressing his... oops, himself wonderfully in S. R. Bayne's forum, which he (R. B. Jones's) duplicates in his great website.

He has instituted a couple of blogs -- and also mailing lists, which everyone is free to join -- on a couple of things. The one project that primarily concerns this blog is the Carnap-Grice interface. So anyone wanting to drop a Grice/Carnap or Carnap/Grice reference is more than welcomed. We feel that Carnap scholarhip could do with the type of standards that R. B. Jones brings to the enterprise. He has the right eye for the right type of analysis. He is a person of many talents, and everything comes out fruitfully with him. His over-all project he calls "HOT philosophy" and it's going to be a publication, so bear in mind that nothing is wasted here, and that all is appreciated.

My Gricean leanings for what Carnap may have meant by

Some pirots karulize elatically (in the dark).

and how it compares to Heidegger's

Das Nichts selbst nichtet

(The Zero himself (sic) annihilates) may throw an implicature (or two).

Etc.
