People have used Grice's ideas as platforms for their own. Which is alright, I think. But consider Kant.
Suppose someone masters in Kant. He fails to read the Critique of Practical Reason. He has, after all, mastered in Kant's _theoretical_ philosophy. And don't we know the type (less odious than the counterpart, the practical Kantian!)
But for Grice philosophy is ENTIRE, and the GriceClub promotes the idea that it's GOOD to drop this ultimate Gricean reference that WILL have escaped YOU if that helps to illuminate that it's never altogether fair to use Grice as a platform to your own machinations, when you're leaving a Gricean insight behind!
Etc.
