Ariskant

Grice thought that Ariskant had superseded Kantotle:

Consider some of Aristotle's idiocies, like 'proprium'. The first OED quote:

1551 T. WILSON Rule of Reason sig. Bv,

"They be called Predicables... Genus The general worde. Species The kinde.
Differentia The difference.

Proprium The properte.

Accidens The thing chauncing or cleuing to the substance."

The latest quote in the OED2 is:

1995 Oxf. Compan. Philos. 722/2

Arguably, the ability to laugh might be a proprium of man.

But then, to echo Hobbes, "This is not philosophy, this is Aristotelity!"
