In discussing that horrid practice of 'writing', in the old times, usually done by one's scribes or 'secretaries', M. Davidson writes:

For who would supervise the supervisor?
H. P. Grice who retired in 1982 from academia, tried to learn a bit of computing, but found that the spell-checker would not allow 'sticky wicket' and gave up.
