Abstract:In defense of the application of the logic of the truth-functional connective 'horse material conditionals to the English connective 'if-then', Paul Grice in his theory indicative conditionals has claimed that the impression of a connection conveyed by then' is only a special kind of conversational implicature; it is not a difference in conditions. I have argued that Grice's theory is unfounded because he has not been adequately establish some of the claims which are crucial for the development of his thesis.
