Grice (British) and Goffman (British) on irrationality

Goffman gives an example:

"The stituation of some British ex-mental patients who cannot pass as ordinary job applicants at the Employment Exchange because their National Insurance cards have unstamped gaps."

The reference is to

E. Mills, "Living with mental illness: a study in East London" (London, Routledge & Kegan Paul Ltd,, 1960), p. 110.
