After 1912, 1925, 1944, 1945, 1958, 1964, and 1979, 'schizophrenia' was used in 1980 by J. Ashton in "Everyday psychiatry", v, p. 33.
Ashton writes:
"[Beuler's] use of the word ["schizophrenia"]
in a WIDE SENSE..."
(I would stick to one sense and multiple uses)
"... has influenced the practice of Swiss and
American psychiatry to the
present day, so that
'American schizophrenia'"
(as it is rudely called)
"ranges from apparently
MINOR PERSONALITY DISORDERS
with a range of emotional reactions,
through to the major deterioration of personality
that is recognised as schizophrenia by
British psychiatrists."
