I am told that "Gazdar" is an Iranian surname? Chapman refers to this as "the least" Gricean of the neo-Griceans, or words to that effect.
Gazdar is a _genius_. His PhD was for Reading. It was distributed, and published by Academic Press. In Sussex he became less of the Gricean that he formerly was, but we still love him and always will!
