This my note on Chapman on p. 108. Of course it's Grice's example in 1961 that he cared to omit in the WoW reprint. But I treasure the laughter of my logic students -- I think Adrian Elder included -- when I was considering the case, and drew on the board -- not a black one -- a blueprint for a little cottage where the door communicating to the garden from the kitchen has the wife _lying_ there.
So,
"Either in the garden or in the kitche -- if not both"
It wasn't my idea!
