I knew of Grant, and did enjoy the paper. Chapman cares to quote it ("Pragmatic Implication", in the very English _Philosophy_) but we may need to know more about this chap.
He sounds particurlarly Albrittonesque, and he was Oxonian, too:
"a statement", Grant writes, "pragmatic impies those propositions whose falsity would render the making of the statement absurd, that is, pointless"
-- and yet you are making it!
