How to Post to the GriceClub

Rule 1

Post.

---

Tapper was complaining, friendlily, about my bedashed

"why is the Search function not working?"

which he searched in the search function.

Having doubted there wasn't something wrong with the search function (i.e. doubting there Was something wrong) when he typed "Grice" and got no results.

ObG: ObG.

  1. Ah, OK. So we Grice Club members need not toil in the shadows of the Comments, we can post our very own posts.

But if we're responding to another post, what's the customary way to refer to it? Is there some html trick to do block quotes? And is there some mechanism corresponding to a "thread", so that it is easy to see what tim w had to say about Kramer's comments about Speranza's response to Kramer?

Pardon me if these matters are old hat to experienced bloggers. If blogspot has some general FAQ with the answers to these sorts of questions, a link to it would be nice.

  2. Mmm. Not sure. Incidentally,

ObG: Mrs Grice and her daughter, which was also Grice´s daughter, would often buy Grice _new_ hats, but he, if you´d believe it, would rather be seen, when walking up and down the Berkeley Hills with his brother Derek, wearing his old, battered, old hat -- So I suppose we are partial to a drop of an old hat (especially by the wind).

So, I do think that comments are pretty well threaded. Since there is no subthreading for comments, it may do to say, "As Tapper said above, yes". Meaning I´m referring to what you said above ("I don´t know what to do with my old hat. Advice from scruples welcomed").

Now if you post -- that will be great. Perhaps I can give you a lead or two. (Just joking).

Once you quote you´ll get the comments.

For each blog post there is a corresponding website place, as it were. But for comments, there is no such thing, and they are all archived in the same place. So it seems the way to distinguish them is via referring to the date, and hour in case, as is my wont, I say a few things on ONE day.

    Etc.
