Horn prefers 'monoguist' -- hybrid -- cf. heterosexual.
But my marginalia on Chapman, p. 30:
Jones is beween Williams and Brown.
a) in a spacial 'sense'
b) in 'other' "senses" -- e.g. in rank of intelligence.
Grice notes, as cited by Chapman:
"The notions of 'sense', 'meaning', and 'use' need to be distinguished not just form each other, but between discussions of sentences and of speakers. 'Need to distinguish all these from cases where _speaker_ might mean so-and-so or such-and-such,"
Grice underlined, rather than italiced. How do you do that on hypertext?
"but wouldn't say that of the the sentence" above.
"either spatial order or order of merit, but doubtful this renders it an ambiguous sentence".
This reminds me of the fluidity of Regina Blass, elsewhere, to bring in Cruse's polysemous facet, or polyfacetic senses!

"Jones is between Williams and Brown" is a great example!
