I wrote on my marginal commentaria on Chapman on Grice on 'value'.
Value was perhaps the wrong word to emphasise by Grice -- since, well, since Putnam and Fukuyama, it has been _over-rated_.
Surely the right Grecianism is 'axios'. As per 'axioma' and stuff.
Chapman discovers for us, "the study of ethics has long included analysis of statements of value" (p. 158).
Only Grice would care to subscript each occurrence of
ᾀξιον!
