I have contributed often to the CLASSICS-L. Only today I got this post on "stereotypes", well not the word used. It´s all about icons, etc. Many of the Grecian thoughts are indeed Gricean, and vice versa. There are so many inter-connections, that it is just lovely to see that what classicists are speaking (without sometimes knowing) is ... matters Gricean.
