I should tell J that I use "Grice-ian" (Griceian) rather than the more standard "Gricean" after J. Kennedy (Jason Kennedy) used it in this blog, and it stuck with me. Surely there is no need to MURDER a surname, and a fine one, such as
---- G R I C E
---
by having it next to '-an', a rather ugly suffix (and yielding 'Grice-an', Gricean). Surely it's better manners to leave the sound of "Grice" as such /grais/ and THEN add an extra 'i', so that THEN you can add that ugly suffix, 'an'
G R I C E - I - AN
So I propose "Griceian" to be pronounced /graisian/
While "Gricean" is pronounced differently according to your idiolect (Palin pronounces it "Grishn").
