Propositional Complexes, and a typo

---

The "Grice Arhchive" has a complete folder, in carton 9, on propositional complexes. This is mistyped as 'prEpositional'.

For Grice, propositions are not really necessary. Propositional complexes are. A propositional complex is what is yielded by an analysis of sentence semantics.

(ix)Cx & Mx

the cat is on the mat.

A propositional complex.

The sentence,

"The cat sat on the mat".

Or more formally,

"The Alpha is Beta"

is the minimal form of a propositional complex. It refers to items having certain features. It is the job of Predicate calculus to provide with an analysis of what they mean.
