Peacocke has essays on 'joint' -- 'joint attention', etc. -- 'common knowledge'. etc. This is a topic that fascinated Grice. Vide his 'cooperative principle'. Surely maxims have to be of 'applicational generality': they apply to ANY conversationalist. How do we ACHIEVE 'joint' though. What is to cooperate. Is the talk mere metaphorical? I think so. I do believe that joint agency is not a presupposition of Grice's theory. It can be reduced to individualistic agencies. Or not. I should find out the other sobriquet Peacocke uses for this. Or not.
