The Play Group Grice was so proud of having accepted him (recall he had been rejected while at Corpus for being "from the wrong side of the tracks") was known by various sobriquets.
In the obituary of D. F. Pears, who belonged, we find yet another.
Grice was born in 1913. So when he moved to Berkeley he was the oldest of the philosophers in the department.
While at Oxford, since 1960, he was also the oldest of the play group members.
Up to 1960, that privilege went to Austin, born 1911.
Austin made a serious point about it. He would NOT allow anyone his SENIOR to attend his meeetings which were thus called "Austin's kindergartens".
When Grice took up the responsibilities he would provide finger food, seeing that the kids had butter fingers, etc.
Cheers,
JL
