Grice: The War Years

--- by JLS
------ for the Grice Circle

This comprises:

1939. Chamberlain puts his leg in it.
1940.
1941. --- Grice's first published paper, "Personal Identity", Mind.
1942. -- almost gets killed by Hun submarines in the North Atlantic
1943.
1944. transferred to Admiralty.
1945. The Armistice. Grice retires as Captain with the Royal Navy.

---

How he found time to write on Locke and personal identity with the Hun and the Blitz is easily explained: he had written that in the 1930s. Trust "Mind" to delay publication for a decade or so.

Grice had made plans for the aftermath. This depended, of course, on his surviving the war.
