One reads from the obituary in St John's by Glasgwegian-born economist G. Richardson:
"I recall a particular argument between [Grice] and a very well-known philosopher who"
remains unnamed -- Glasgwegian irony of the 'VERY well-known'
"characteristically spoke and wrote in rather broad and general terms. H.P.,
with close and careful reasoning, remorsely dismantled his opponent piece
by piece."
Richardson goes on:
"There was in this something of a chess player, and indeed, H.P.
did play chess and beat me at any rate invariably".

What rate was that?
