THERE IS NO DOUBT (about it): the best book ever on 'ethnomethodology' is Heritage/Atkinson, "Structures of social action: studies in conversation analysis" -- a book Cambridge book, for a change. It represents the best of English analysis.
I browse the book and there are references to Grice. For how would you expect otherwise in a book by British scholars on conversation analysis. The book has 446 pages, and I'm glad I have the paperback. The Grices references are...
--- is, rather --- just one, on p. 433 is to the William James lectures -- in the reference section. No reference to a specific entry specified. It refers specifically to the reprint in Cole/Morgan, etc.
