New PDF of Dale's "Theory of Meaning" (1996)

April 6, 2011

Roger Bishop Jones has kindly pointed out some serious typographical errors in the version my "The Theory of Meaning" (1996) that is published on my website at russelldale.com. These really affect reading chapter 4 where the symbols really matter a lot (and in the following chapters as well, I imagine).

Thank you Roger. I really appreciate your help.

I don't quite have time to fix these up right now, so instead I am doing the following.

I have posted on my website a PDF of a scan of my original dissertation made by UMI Dissertation Services, the company my university (City University of New York) uses to officially publish dissertations. So, if you go to russelldale.com, you will find it there, or you can directly go to it at:

http://russelldale.com/dissertation/1996.RussellDale.TheTheoryOfMeaning.pdf

I only found this scanned PDF version of my dissertation just a few months ago. So, this will allow one to actually read the text as it was originally written (almost quite literally--if I may!: it is a photocopy, basically, turned into a PDF).

I hope that helps a bit.

Yours,
Russell
