'freed from', 'free from' -- Grice on 'LIBERATED from'

by JLS
for the GC

In "Actions and Events", the culminating stage:

"At this stage, it is ... the case that the creature is LIBERATED ... from all factive causes."

which is back to Berlin, 'negative' concept of 'freedom', so one has to be careful, and connect it with the realisation of a telos. It is of value to be liberated from a factive cause when the agent fulfils an end that he has self-imposed.

Or something.
