The Qualia -- and Professor Grice

I think Grice WOULD say, contra J -- we need some polemic here -- that qualia are irreducible.

Qualia are perhaps overrated.

The Latins had these lovely words, all beginning with qu-

quale
quantum

and the rest of them.

Quale and Quantum ARE related, etymologically.

I would not know how to define a quale, though.

What irritates me slightly is that philosophers are always speaking of qualia in the future. Some may even forget that the singular of qualia is quale. Or not.
