LIKE JEREMY BOWMAN,
"Ryle," Doyle writes in "Informationphilosopher", "thought that the problem of free will was a "tangle of spurious problems." Minds, as entities outside the causal system, do not exist. He said the "myth" of volition belongs with concepts like phlogiston and "animal spirits.""
Oddly, Grice found phlogista sympathetic and dedicates a passage or two to them in "Action and Events", as I think I've discussed elshewhere.
