R. O. Doyle, in his entry for Williams in "I-Phi" quotes from Williams in Pears, Freedom of the will:
"Strictly speaking, this is the notion of physical determinism. There are also ideas of psychological determinism : see Chapter 4; and Postscript, pp. 106 et seq."
-- which I think is very good. To add 'physical'.
Also when it comes to indeterminism.
Thus when Grice objects to 'chance and causal indeterminism', adding 'physical' clarifies issues, for Grice, like Pears, allowed for 'psychological' determinism, if not a strict one. And so on. ---.
