Truth-Value Gap: The Showdown (Revisited)

--- Actually, 're-read' should be enough, and the (c) is L. R. Horn!

---- I may copy and paste why Noel Burton-Roberts, who lives in Newcastle, doesn't fear a gap, but Grice did.

The phrase was first used by Quine -- and Strawson was fast enough in taking it up (in his "Identifying reference and truth-values", in Theoria, I believe, repr. in Logico-Lingusitic Papers).

The ref. by Grice to the truth-value gap should be from his "Presupposition and Conversational Implicature" repr. in WoW (googlebook fragment, I hope).
