Grice, dead at 75

by JLS
for the GC

-- GRICE died on Aug. 28, 1988, aged 75.

The other day, I was reading this obituary of Lady Susana Wilton (she was born in Buenos Aires, and died in Ischia): "died 84" (I think), "natural causes". That online list of "causes of death of philosphers" has Grice as having died 'of non-natural causes'. Then there's S. Wright (I'm revising his output vis a vis Kramer's bringing him to the forum/fore):

"How young can you die of old age?"

Wright asked.
Answers on a postcard, to Grice.

----- (Of course Grice was YOUNG when he died, so it doesn't apply, but there must be something anti-Gricean maxim in Wright's question. In any case, I wouldn't venture an answer!)
