Grice would often complain about the devil of scientism (notably in his "Method in philosohpical pscyhology" presidential address for the American Philosophical Association. He felt that scientists were perhaps overrated. The sentiment is echoed by Stephen Wright:
"Why don't they make the whole plane out of that black box stuff."
Surely there is nothing IMPOSSIBLE about it? Is that they are being wicked?
