Anti-Creative, Anti-Inventive, Anti-Conjectural Grice

J L Speranza in one of the threads analysed my views in a Gricean way yesterday (a thread which I almost missed since it was labelled in what looked like a purely linguistically oriented title - moreover, the threads are not alphabetical, which makes deciding which to view difficult). He practically demolished my views in the interpretation of Grice, but not in my own interpretation. It seems that, like the claims of the French Revolutionaries, I was guilty of Conjecturing, Guessing, not adhering to strict Relevance, and various of the other violations of "Rules" of Grice which seem to come out of a hat like the hare in "Alice in Wonderland". I made some (what I thought were) humourous comments also, which did not strictly fit Grice's Rules, and did not adhering to "pure evidence" but more theory, again a Gricean Sacrelige (if I spelt that correctly).

Mozart and Beethoven would be "unwritten" by Grice's standards. Does anybody in Grice's school actually CONJECTURE, GUESS, and so on?

I resign from this club as of now.
