"Although some have attempted to derive the content of utterances directly from the behavioural dispositions of speakers and listeners (; ch. 8; ), this paper will assume that linguistic content depends at least in part on the thoughts of those communicating (). If so, we cannot start with public language sentences. Attempts to naturalise intentionality of all kinds will depend upon being able to naturalise mental content."
