M. Finch studied Philosophy at Oxford (his tutor was H. P. Grice), and later got a BSc in Physics from Exeter, then getting his doctorate from Sussex for Maths and Theoretical Physics.
Alongside his interest in philosophy, Finch has been a meditation practitioner.
The title of Finch's Fellowship dissertation is A Metaphysics of Distinction, Performance and Practice.
