In "Studies in the Way of Words", Grice speaks of a fairy god mother whom he calls, after his self, "G".
"G" is like Grice, only better. "She represents all that is good about me."
Similarly he talks of a fairy godmother whom Grice calls "Q", after Quine. Q is Quine's fairy godmother.
Grice ends his "Studies in the way of words" with:
"Such considerations are these are said
to lie behind reports that Q, the fairy
godmother, was last seen rushing headlong
out of the gates of the philosophical
Never-Never Land, loudly screaming
and hotly being pursued by G, my
fairy godmother. But the narration of these
stirring events must be left to another and longer
day."
Alas he died, so the narration belongs elsewhere.
