Grisetto

--- When he was in Milan, Horn (the monosyllabic linguist) punned, to good effect, on 'grisotto alla milanese', but that's of course arabic.

As the DIZIONARIO ETIMOLOGICO DELLA LINGUA ITALIANA shows, it's barbara latinita which had 'gris', and that's Germanic to the backbone, meaning what it means:

"griso", ladin "grish"; prov. fr. sp., por. "gris"; ingl. = a. a. ted. Deriv.: "grisatoio", "grisetto".

----- So now you know.
