Grice on Environment-Adaptiveness

---- By J. L. S.

This may contrast with Dawkins.

From wiki:

"In The Extended Phenotype, Dawkins suggests that because of genetic recombination and sexual reproduction, from an individual gene's viewpoint all other genes are part of the environment to which it is adapted."

I would not think Grice would like to call "all other genes" as part of an 'environment'. Shouldn't the thing be secluded to broader issues. In ecology, that Dawkins promotes, isn't an 'environment' understood as something in between organisms, rather than ... genes?
