H. P. Grice on conversational trust: the Oxford connection
"Trust" is of course connected with 'true,' but in a general view of conversation, such as the one Grice is proposing, 'trustworthiness' may work better. Or "trust" simpliciter.
At Oxford, the topic was key in authors such as, not only H. P. Grice, but J. O. Urmson, G. J. Warnock, J. L. Austin, P. F. Strawson, P. H. Nowell-Smith, C. K. Grant, and many others.
