Cock-A-Grice

Cock-a-grice [A blend, from "cock" + "grice", a pig.

In early English and Scots cookery, a cock-a-grice is a dish usually consisting of an old cock and an old grice boiled together.

Cock-a-grice Take a whole roasted cock, etc.

Cock-a-grice with pears in syrup.

1410 Anc. Cookery in Househ. Ord.

Cock-a-grice. Take an old cock and pull him and also take a grice, and flee
him and sow him fast together.

1430 Cookery Bks.

Cockagrice: take a cock & draw him clean. Take a grice & draw him in the
same manner and roast them.
