H. P. Grice loved A. E. Duncan-Jones's "Fugitive propositions" -- Duncan-Jones's tutor at Caius, like Stevenson's, is (of all people) G. E. Moore!

Austin Duncan-Jones was educated a t Gonville and Caius College, Cambridge between 1927-31, where he studied fo r the Classics and Moral Sciences degrees. He was tutored , lik e Stevenson afte r him, by G.E. Moore, CD. Broad and R.B. Braithwaite. As a resul t of hi s reflection s upon Moore's ethica l theory, and Braithwaite's critica l assessment of i t i n 'Verbal Ambiguity and Philosophical Analysis', he wrote an articl e entitle d 'Ethical Words and Ethica l Facts', which was published i n the October 1933 volume of Mind. This articl e reveals Duncan-Jones' scepticism regarding Moore's account of the nature of ethica l disagreement, and the meaning of 'good'. He suggests tha t the centra l problem wit h thi s account i s tha t i t does not recognise the fac t tha t a moral argument between contending partie s may wel l end i n one saying t o the other, not 'you are entirely mistaken, but rather something such as you belong to a different moral world from mine'.
