"distinction seldom made by Austin"

My marginalia to Chapman, p. 62.

"In many of his writings, Grice stuided use with as much zeal as Austin. But he saw use as a guide to what people often mean, no necessarly to what an expression does" (or words).

I treasure Grice in Reply to Richards.

"For I am the implicature man. A distinction, implication and implicature, apparently ignored by Witters, and all too seldom by Austin" (or words)
