How unAristotelian can you get?

From PPQ, vol. 67, p. 24.

The problem with Davidson, and Quine, and most Americans, is their inability to understand Aristotle. In England it is MANDATORY to know him by heart!

-----

Davidson fails to realise the importance of Aristotle's FIRST category: the substance.

"Prime bearers of causal properties are NOT episodic things like an event. That belongs to an ENDURING thing: a substance."

He goes on to deprecate the current myopia in American philosophy:

"A great deal of this myopia is, put simply, the consequence of a very un-Aristotelian inattention to the place of Substance in the conception of Cause."
