Do they think we are _stupid_, or what?
If they DO say, 'no pun intended' it's because they DID intend it.
But they don't have the courage to say it, "I am a silly'un -- it's a silly pun, and hey, bear with me when I did intend it or think about it -- and I hope you are silly enough to think that I am silly enough to rebut Grice about this".
