H. P. Grice finds S. N. Hampshire's and H. L. A. Hart's views on 'certainty' and 'intention' "puzzling." "They admit that the agent may have evidence that he will NOT do what he intends." As Grice notes, Hampshire and Hart try to solve the paradox by allowing that the agent need only have CERTAINTY or knows that he is resolved to resist any contrary impulse or preference."
