Grice at his Deepest

In a commentary, elsewhere, J wrote:

"Something like analogy functions in language along with the declarative/rational (which Aristotle allows, at least--probably realizing that normal humans prefer Oedipus Rex, to syllogisms (tho for Ari., they should know both....)."

-- which was inspiring.

I do think there is a book on Parmenides and analogy which I should revise. But I think this connects with Grice at his deepest. When compiling a shopping-list for a new discipline he just invented, "philosophical eschatology", WoW:305ff he notes:

---

"For a start, I might distinguish [ONE] direction as being one in which a philosophical eschatologist might be expected to deploy his energies"

"(*) An INVESTIGATION on the notion of ANALOGY,

and a delineation of its liks with other

seemingly comparable notions, such as Metaphor

and Parable. Can this list be expanded?"

--- I think it can!
