The alethic and the boulomaic

namely

2. epistemic (including 'doxastic')

3. deontic and

4. existential modality.

This system was further enlarged
by Rescher (1968), who added

5. temporal (or chronological)

5. boulomaic, or bouletic.

6. evaluative,

7. causal and

8. likelihood modalities13.
