On Grice's label: "philosophical psychology"

The old label Grice reacted against was "philosophy of mind". As per today's obit of O'Shaughnessy:
"Across the two [Brian O'Shaughnessy] presented
a highly individual and distinctive
take on concerns that have been central
to the philosophy of mind since Ryle
popularised that label: the nature of
bodily action; the inextricability of
mind and body; the distinctive awareness
each of us has of his or her own body; the
structure of experience, in particular
of waking consciousness; and the
central role of attention in all
experience and in making possible sensory
awareness of the world around us."
---- Actually, I met O'Shaughnessy in a colloquium that had Searle talking on foreground and background. I failed to ask O'Shaughnessy what college in Oxford he had attended!
--- The obit says that he was "trained" in Oxford -- as a dog!?
